Volunteers Without Borders

This Summer AMEL has been joined by 30 remote interns and volunteers from all across Africa, the Middle East and beyond!

Assisting with the Summer edition of the AMEL Institute, as well as with community engagement, they hail from:

  • Algeria

  • Burundi

  • Democratic Republic of Congo

  • Egypt

  • Ethiopia

  • Ghana

  • Jordan

  • Kenya

  • Lebanon

  • Malawi

  • Morocco

  • Nigeria

  • Tunisia

  • Uganda

  • United States

  • Yemen

  • Zimbabwe

While the volunteers are young professionals who previously attended the AMEL Institute, the interns are students who were primarily referred to us by the AL for Governance Sector Network of the African Leadership Academy and by professors at universities such as DePaul.

AMEL volunteers and interns are organized into three groups - each with participants from a variety of countries - that meet weekly to discuss progress, challenges and plans. In this way, AMEL provides an opportunity for building skills and experience in international exchange, cross-cultural communication, remote teamwork and more!

Anyone interested in volunteering or interning with AMEL in the Fall or Winter can fill out this form to express interest.
